Depending on weather and temperature, cherry blossoms bloom different date every year. So how do we know?

There are 59 sample trees in different areas in Japan. Japan Meteorological Agency observes the samples and determine the day of opening and blooming of cherry blossoms.

The day of opening is when five or six flowers have open on the sample trees, while the day of blooming is when over 80% of the sakura have opened on the sample trees.
