Kiyomizu Temple (清水寺)

One of the most famous temples in Kyoto not only offers magnificent scenery and historical building but also breathtaking Sakura during spring.
The temple usually opens between 6a.m. and 6p.m. but during cherry blossom season, it opens until 9p.m.
Hours: March 25th to April 9th 6p.m. to 9p.m.
Fee: Adult 400 yen, Children 200 yen
Address: 1-294 Shimizu, Higashiyama Ward, Kyoto, Kyoto Prefecture
・Take bus No. 206 (bound to Higashiyama-dori Kitaoji bus terminal) or No. 100 (bound to Ginkaku Temple) from Kyoto Station. Get off at Gojosaka (五条坂) and walk 10 minutes.
・No parking so it’s recommended to take public transportation or taxi.
Gion Shirakawa (祇園白川)
Although this area doesn’t have lots of cherry blossoms, it’s one of the most famous spot in Kyoto. It’s used for drama and popular destination for yozakura.
Hours: March 25th to April 3rd 6p.m. to 10p.m. (date not officially specified yet)
Fee: Free
Address: Motoyoshi-cho, Higashiyama Ward, Kyoto, Kyoto Prefecture
・Take Keihan Line and get off at Gion Shijo Station and walk 3 minutes
・Take Keihan Line and get off at Sanjo Station and walk 5 minutes
・Take Hankyu Line and get off at Kawaramachi Station and walk 5 minutes

Maruyama Park (円山公園)

Located in Maruyama-cho, this is another great spot for cherry blossom illumination. It would sell alcoholic beverage and some snacks.
This park has parking and it’s 250 yen for 30 minutes.
Hours: Middle of March to Middle of April
Fee: Free
Address: Maruyama-cho, Higashiyama ward, Kyoto, Kyoto Prefecture
・Take bus at Kyoto Station, get off at Gion and walk 5 minutes
・Take Keihan Line, get off at Gion-Shijo Station and walk 10 minutes
Kyoto Botanical Garden (京都府立植物園)
Kyoto Botanical Garden provides beautiful cherry blossoms as well as other flowers. It knows how to light flowers up and make them attractive, so it’s worth visiting there.
There are parking spots for 150 vehicles. The parking is 300 yen for 1 hour.
Hours: March 25th to April 9th after dusk till 9p.m. (must enter by 8p.m.)
Fee: Adults 200 yen, 16-18 years old 150 yen, under 15 Free
Address: Shimogamo Hangicho, Sakyo ward, Kyoto, Kyoto Prefecture
・Take Karasumaru Line, get off at Kitayama Station (Exit 3)
・Take Karasumaru Line, get off at Kitaoji Station (Exit 3) and walk 10 minutes
・Take bus and get off at Syokubutuen-mae (Botanical Garden) and walk 5 minutes
Okazaki Canal (岡崎疎水)
This canal brings water from Biwa Lake to Kyoto. Both sides of the canal are covered by cherry blossoms and night view is stunning.
You can take a walk by the canal or take a small boat during Sakura season to enjoy yozakura.
If you want to take a boat, book here Canal Boats as it’ll be busy during Sakura season. The boat departures every 15 minutes between 8a.m. and 8:30p.m. (Let me know if you need help to book it!)

・Take Kyoto Subway, get off at Keage Station (Exit 1) and walk 7 minutes
Summary
Sakura in Kyoto is different from Tokyo because of buildings. Kyoto has lots of historical buildings and it’s just gorgeous to see those buildings with cherry blossoms.
